Lemon Grove, California – A Lyft driver was kidnapped Sunday evening while providing a rideshare to a male passenger in East County, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department (SDSO).
The incident began around 9:30 p.m. in Spring Valley when the driver picked up a fare. She then drove the passenger, identified as 23-year-old Shane Capezio, to a marijuana dispensary in the 3500 block of Harris Street in Lemon Grove.
While en route, the driver sent a text message to 911, reporting that Capezio had told her he was armed with a gun.
Deputies arrived at the dispensary and found the driver and Capezio struggling inside the vehicle. They separated the individuals and arrested Capezio. The driver sustained minor injuries.
A search of Capezio and the vehicle did not uncover any weapons, according to the SDSO.

He is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in El Cajon Superior Court on Wednesday afternoon.
