SAN DIEGO — San Diego Fire-Rescue Department (SDFD) crews responded to multiple water rescue calls Thursday night as a strong storm swept through San Diego County.
The heaviest concentration of rescues occurred on La Jolla Village Drive, where crews successfully rescued four people from vehicles trapped in floodwaters around 8:30 p.m. No injuries were reported in these rescues.
Later in the evening, in Sorrento Valley, SDFD crews rescued two more drivers who became trapped on Carroll Canyon Road near Pacific Heights Road. A battalion chief on scene confirmed that a man and a woman were safely extracted from their vehicles.
Even though the worst of the storm has passed, the fire department warns that flooding may continue into Friday. Officials are urging drivers to exercise caution and avoid driving through flooded roadways, advising them to “turn around, don’t drown.”
