A San Diego woman was sentenced Friday to more than seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to drug and firearm charges. Lucresia Stone-Rojas, 46, was arrested in December 2023 after investigators discovered she was planning to mail Bibles containing heroin to two California prisons, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Authorities found packages addressed to prison inmates in Stone-Rojas’ possession. Inside the packages were Bibles with approximately 23 grams of heroin concealed within the spines of the books. Stone-Rojas pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute heroin.
In addition to the drug charge, Stone-Rojas also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. She was sentenced to 86 months in prison for both offenses.
