On February 4, 2025, San Diego FC, Major League Soccer’s newest club, unveiled the Sharp HealthCare Performance Center, a state-of-the-art training facility located approximately 16 miles east of their home venue, Snapdragon Stadium. This milestone marks the team as the first major professional sports franchise to establish its training complex on Native American land, specifically the Sycuan Reservation.
The 28-acre campus features a 50,000-square-foot performance facility, complemented by five soccer fields—three with natural turf designated for the MLS team and two with synthetic turf for the Right to Dream youth academy. Inside, the facility boasts a 5,800-square-foot gym, eight locker rooms, a kitchen and dining hall, a lounge, and numerous offices and meeting rooms.
The establishment of this facility was made possible through the collaboration between team Chairman Mohamed Mansour and Vice Chairman Cody Martinez, who also serves as the Sycuan Tribal Chairman. Martinez highlighted the significance of the location, noting, “The history of this property goes back so far, so having a new chapter in that history and everything about sports, and youth and positivity—it’s amazing. So I know that our ancestors are smiling down because we continue to create new history for this property.”
San Diego FC is set to make its MLS debut on February 23, 2025, with an away match against the defending champions, LA Galaxy. The team’s home opener is scheduled for March 1, 2025, against St. Louis City SC at Snapdragon Stadium.
