
A 41-year-old woman has confessed to setting a fire at an unoccupied movie theater in Oceanside, according to the Oceanside Police Department. Amber Iovino was arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with the January 29 incident at the Regal Cinemas located at 401 Mission Ave.
Firefighters from Oceanside, Vista, and Carlsbad responded to the scene and discovered a fire in a drainage pipe, with smoke emanating from the roof. The blaze was extinguished, and damages were estimated to exceed $10,000. Investigators determined that the fire had been intentionally set.
Surveillance footage led police to identify Iovino as a suspect. She was arrested on February 4 and booked into the San Diego County Jail. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information about the incident to contact Oceanside Police Detective Smith at 760-435-4341.
