Ramona, California – Last week, police arrested 31-year-old Matthew Pitonyak on suspicion of multiple drug and firearm offenses after a routine traffic stop in Ramona.
Just before noon on Thursday, Pitonyak was stopped by deputies from the Ramona Sheriff’s Substation while behind the wheel of a gray Acura TSX. Deputies quickly discovered that not only was Pitonyak driving with a suspended license and registration, but that he was allegedly in possession of four Xanax pills, 25 grams of fentanyl and 1.43 grams of methamphetamine.
In a statement, the sheriff’s office said:
A California Highway Patrol drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation of Pitonyak for possibly being under the influence of a narcotic.
Following the routine traffic stop, deputies served a search warrant at Pitonyak’s home and found another round of contraband. This time they dug up Xanax pills, two containers with a suspected substance resembling fentanyl, several boxes of various types of caliber ammunition, a handgun, and two shotguns.
Officials state that Pitonyak was booked into the San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of drug and firearm violations, as well as the additional count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.
