GRAND TERRACE, CA — A home invasion in Grand Terrace ended in gunfire Tuesday night when a resident shot two intruders, leaving one dead and another wounded, authorities said.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the break-in occurred around 9:15 p.m. at a home on the 23000 block of Grand Terrace Road. The homeowner, whose identity has not been released, told police that multiple suspects forced their way inside, prompting him to grab a firearm and open fire in self-defense.
Fleeing the scene in a white sedan, the suspects were later located after authorities responded to reports of gunshot victims. Around 10 to 15 minutes after the incident, deputies found a wounded man and a 15-year-old boy at a 76 gas station on Redlands Boulevard in Loma Linda. The man was found lying on the ground and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Authorities determined that both individuals had been involved in the attempted robbery, leading to the teen’s arrest.
A third suspect, Marquez Jackson, was found at a local hospital around 10:05 p.m., suffering from gunshot wounds. He underwent surgery and remains hospitalized, but officials said he will face charges of robbery and murder upon his release.
The juvenile suspect has also been booked on robbery and murder charges at Juvenile Hall.
Law enforcement continues searching for a fourth suspect who remains at large. Anyone with information is urged to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department at 909-890-4904.
