
San Diego, CA – One person has died, and another has been injured following a shooting at the Handlery Hotel in the Mission Valley neighborhood on Monday night, according to the San Diego Police Department.
The shooting took place around 8:20 p.m. at 950 Hotel Circle North. Upon arrival at the Handerly Hotel, officers discovered two victims: one with a gunshot wound to the chest and another shot in the arm. Emergency responders later confirmed that one of the victims succumbed to their injuries.
As of late Monday night, no suspects have been identified, and the police stated that no one is currently in custody. Officers set up a perimeter around the hotel, deploying heavy equipment including a Bearcat, and were seen wearing helmets and body armor. Guests were barred from entering the hotel, with police tape surrounding the lobby and parking lot.
Linnea Harris, a visitor from Canada, expressed her concerns after her reservation was canceled due to the shooting:
It’s just kind of nerve-wracking to think, you know, what am I going to do now? I don’t have a place to stay. I don’t know if I can walk down the street.
