San Diego County – A 40-year-old man was arrested Monday in Jacumba after deputies discovered numerous guns, homemade explosives, and booby traps at his residence.
San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home of Ross Warren in the 42000 block of Old Highway 80 around 6 a.m. to serve a warrant related to an alleged assault with a deadly weapon committed last month.
Upon arrival, Warren reportedly attempted to evade arrest by hiding inside a wall of the residence, armed with a firearm and a pellet gun, according to Lt. Jeff Ford. Deputies successfully apprehended Warren during a subsequent search of the premises.
The search revealed a cache of ammunition, makeshift bombs, and homemade booby traps, including a board with large construction screws protruding from it. Warren was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of assault, weapons-related offenses, and cruelty to a child.
Details regarding the initial assault that led to the search warrant were not immediately released.
