
A 61-year-old man was strangled and his head was repeatedly slammed against the ground outside a Hillcrest gas station Saturday afternoon, resulting in his death. Solomon Guerrero, 55, has been arrested and charged with murder, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Authorities responded to a call from witnesses at approximately 4:54 p.m. reporting a violent assault at 330 Washington Street. Upon arrival, officers found the victim unconscious in front of the gas station. He had sustained severe injuries from being strangled and having his head struck against the pavement. Despite immediate aid and subsequent transport to a local hospital, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Witness descriptions led officers to Guerrero near the intersection of West Washington Street and Albatross Street, where he was apprehended. He was booked into San Diego County Jail for murder.
