The Chula Vista Police Department is currently investigating a troubling pattern of car vandalism in a neighborhood close to Castle Park High School. Since December of last year, officers have received at least 14 reports of vehicles being damaged, with four new cases emerging this week.
The vandalism tends to feature scratches carved into car hoods and doors, in the shape of Xs or stars, essentially a design that can be carved in a hurry.
Sergeant Anthony Molina, the department’s public information officer, has conveyed that there is no evidence linking the vandalism to gang activity at this time. Despite the lack of apparent motivation, police urge the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
Residents in the area are advised to take precautions, such as parking in well-lit areas and keeping an eye on their vehicles. As the investigation continues, the Chula Vista Police Department encourages anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward.
