A California man was arrested on Wednesday at the “El Chaparral” border crossing in Tijuana, Baja California. Authorities allege that 41-year-old Scott Harvey Daniel Lee Thompson attempted to enter Mexico with a stockpile of weapons connected to the notorious Sinaloa cartel.
Border security was immediately suspicious of the heavily tinted windows of Thompson’s vehicle. The following thorough inspection unconvered an arsenal that included three rifles, two handguns, 19 magazines, and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition in various calibers, as well as three telescopic sights for firearms and a telescope.
According to Mexican officials, the recovered weapons are associated with the “Los Rusos” faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. Thompson remains in custody as the investigation continues.
