Faizon Love, the well-known actor and comedian famous for his roles in films like “Elf,” “The Replacements,” “Couples Retreat,” and “Friday,” is facing serious legal trouble after an alleged assault incident at a San Diego hotel. A newly filed lawsuit claims that Love attacked a front desk clerk at the Sheraton Mission Valley after a hotel booking app failed to secure a room for him.
According to court documents, the incident occurred last August when Love arrived at the hotel only to be informed by staff that there were no vacancies available. Frustrated, he was advised to contact the third-party booking app for a refund. The situation escalated rapidly when Love reportedly became aggressive, tearing a credit card reader off its mount and throwing it at the female clerk. This violent act struck her on the left side of the head.
The San Diego Police investigation revealed that the clerk sought medical attention the following day, where she was diagnosed with a concussion. As a result of these alarming allegations, Love is now facing a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon. An active warrant for his arrest has been issued.
In addition to the criminal charges, the hotel employee has filed a civil lawsuit seeking monetary damages for her medical expenses, pain, and emotional distress.
One day after the alleged attack, Love took to social media to express his frustration, labeling the booking app as a scam. In 2017, he pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor for attacking a valet at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport, where he was fined and given a suspended jail sentence. Previous allegations against him in 2009 involved an attack on a man at a hotel in West Hollywood.
