Effective Tuesday, some fees at County of San Diego parks will experience their first increase in a decade. Adjustments will be made to fees for camping, parking, fishing permits, boating rentals, and sports facilities, impacting outdoor enthusiasts across the region.
The County of San Diego stated that the fee increase is essential to keep up with rising costs while continuing to provide exceptional outdoor recreational spaces. “The increase helps parks keep pace with rising costs while continuing to deliver best-in-nation outdoor and recreation spaces at a good value when compared to similar park systems,” the county noted in a statement.
Under the new fee structure, day use parking will rise from $3 to $5 per day, and the cost of an RV partial hook-up campsite will increase from $29 to $35. The county also aims to streamline the camping experience; the updated fee will now allow up to two pets and one extra vehicle to be included in camping reservations.
The County Parks & Recreation department oversees 158 facilities across more than 58,000 acres of land, offering plenty of opportunities for hiking, camping, and recreational activities along its 389 miles of trails. These changes signify a continued commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality of public parks for years to come.
