A seemingly mundane trip to the hair salon took a violent turn in Santee, leaving one Great Clips employee shaken and a customer in handcuffs. The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when a man, identified as August Marriott, allegedly became enraged during the shampoo process of his appointment.
According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, Marriott, 27, was behaving aggressively when he entered the salon at 7pm, and began verbally berating the stylist during the shampoo process. The situation escalated quickly, with Marriott allegedly throwing shampoo bottles at the employee as multiple patrons and employees filmed the episode with their smart phones.
Marriott left the salon before authorities arrived, although he was quickly identified as the perpetrator behind the aggressive outburst. Upon arrival, they found the stylist visibly distressed; witnesses corroborated the stylist’s account of the events.
Marriott was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of assault, vandalism and violating terms of his parol. Stylist Jessica Schirmer told NBC 7 on Wednesday night, “You don’t know how someone is going to act when they just snap like that. We cut hair. It’s not like I am on the front lines somewhere.”
